Online registration for the 2019 rendition of P2P is open for you early-birds who want to put a commitment on the calendar and train toward it.

Passport to Pain is known for relentless, quad-popping hills, amusing-bordering-on-weird checkpoints, and a feeling of camaraderie that comes from sharing a unique experience that connects you with fellow riders throughout the day.

Here's some basic info:

  1. P2P is a fun ride, but it's not a race. Riders start in small groups to minimize annoying our neighbors on the roads.
  2. We offer four courses of increasing difficulty: The Granny, The Weenie, The Weasel and the Idiot. 12 to 80 miles; 800 feet of vertical to 10,000. Something for everyone!
  3. There are checkpoints every few miles where you get your Passport stamped, pick up some food and water, and enjoy the festivities and silliness that our Checkpoint Volunteers bring to the party.
  4. There's a big barbecue at the end of the ride where people recuperate, hang out, and trade tales of suffering. It's a really nice way to end the day.
  5. We have shuttle service from (and back to) the north end ferry dock.
  6. There is camping available on the Island Friday night, and there are numerous B&Bs.
  7. We figure the Island can stand about 500 riders in this event, so that's the limit we're setting at this point.
  8. There are restrooms and clothing drops along the way. We bring your clothes back to the finish for you.

Preliminary Schedule for Saturday, September 14, 2019:

  • 7:00 to 8:30 AM ‒ Pre-registered riders pick up bib numbers at Jensen Point Park on Vashon Island (8900 SW Harbor Drive). If we're not sold out, walk-ups register at the site.

  • 7:30 to 9:00 AM ‒ Riders start slowly (the smart ones) from Jensen Point Park, in small groups or as preregistered teams. Look for the giant Rowing Club Trailer in the Jensen Point parking lot.

  • 1:00 PM ‒ The Barbecue begins at Jensen Point Park

  • 4:00 PM ‒ All riders head for the finish from wherever they are on the course ‒ it's time to eat!  Remember, this is all just a long ride to the BBQ.  Don't worry, "Smokin Pete's" won't let anyone go home hungry. Additional BBQ tickets can be purchased in advance for friends and family ($20 each) or purchased day-of (subject to availability).

  • 4:30 PM ‒ All Checkpoints close.

  • 6:00 PM ‒ The Barbecue wraps up, everyone tries to find their bike and car, and heads for home.

  • The Second Saturday in September falls on the 12th in 2020. Just sayin'. (That will be the tenth P2P!)

Thanks for your interest in this unique event! We hope to see you in September!
