The Burma Road... Situation
As you may have heard, P2P's signature hill, Burma Road, sustained major damage during last winter's storms. And indeed, it did.
The good news is, King County is planning to fix it! Probably next year. The bad news is, P2P riders (and everyone else) are not allowed to use Burma Road this year — so please, don't use it!

When we first heard about the slide, we told you to detour around it by routing up Cedarhurst Road.
Then we heard that people were walking their bikes past the slide, so we announced you could choose to use Burma or Cedarhurst.
And very soon after that, we got a call from a nice lady at King County Road Services who made it clear that P2P cannot use the closed portion of Burma Road this year.
She's right; it's dumb to sneak past a Road Closed sign. If anything happened to you out there, you would truly be an actual idiot -- and so would your enthusiastic but unrealistic P2P Co-Producers for encouraging you in any way to go that route.
So please, keep us all out of trouble, and don't attempt to ride up Burma this year. Thank you.

Here's the detour. It adds 0.4 miles to the course and removes all of 40 feet of vertical. It's still the Passport2Pain. Point A is just before the Burma turnoff from Cedarhurst Road; Point B is Checkpoint #8.
