Note About 2024
|
Due to popular demand, we are going to run the P2P course in reverse again this year. So, all riders except the Tourists will head first to Maury Island. The route on Maury will be the same as in past years. Once on Vashon riders will proceed counterclockwise, i.e. backwards from the previous route. Burma Road has reopened so will be part of the Idiot ride again this year.

P2P offers four courses for your amusement:
THE IDIOT – 80 miles, 10,000 vertical feet
We call this course "The Idiot" for good reason. When you meet the Devil, you are only about two-thirds of the way home. There's no shame (well, not much) in coming to your senses and peeling off at The Weenie fork, but if handlebar streamers, a fully-stamped Passport, and the certain knowledge that you are a Complete Idiot is your cup of tea, well, carry on, friend.

THE WEASEL – 58 miles, 6,900 vertical feet
If you're not an Idiot but the Weenie won't satisfy your needs, "The Weasel" may be juuust riiight. It's a full tour of Maury Island's 5 checkpoints (plus the Sandwich Stop!), and the southern half of Vashon including the Evil Twins and the Lisabeula rollercoaster. Plenty to write home about.

THE WEENIE – 33 miles, 3,600 vertical feet
It's called "The Weenie," but anyone who has ridden 3,600 vertical feet over 33 miles knows better. Your goal is 5 checkpoints around Maury Island, plus you get to the BBQ a little earlier (this year we will be feasting on the Devil's Tacos from La Isla!). And feel free to take an easy detour up to the Sandwich Stop.

THE TOURIST – 12 miles, 800 vertical feet
A fine jaunt up to the town of Vashon and back to Jensen Point. Excellent for anyone who wants to be part of the fun without being an idiot about it. Enjoy a leisurely start time, visit the Vashon Center for the Arts, hang out at the Sandwich Stop, explore town, visit Granny's Thrift Store, check out a gallery or six, do a little shopping—you know, have a nice day. Then head back down to the P2P Barbecue and your photo op. And there's this: The Tourist is only half the price of the other rides. Spend the difference in town and have something to show for your day besides blisters in awkward places.
