P2P Basics

Passport2Pain is known for relentless, quad-popping hills, amusing-bordering-on-weird checkpoints, and a feeling of camaraderie that comes from sharing a unique experience that connects you with fellow riders throughout the day.

  • P2P is a fun ride, but it's not a race. Riders start in small groups to minimize annoying our neighbors on the roads. Racer-types are strongly encouraged to chill; P2P is not about close passing and getting there first; don't be that guy.

  • We offer four courses of increasing difficulty:  The Tourist, The Weenie, The Weasel, and The Idiot. 12 to 80 miles; 800 to 10,000 feet of vertical. Something for everyone! You are welcome to adjust your ambitions as the day unfolds; there are plenty of shortcuts to the P2P Devil's Taco Feast.

  • There are checkpoints every few miles where you get your Passport stamped, pick up some food and fluids, and enjoy the festivities and silliness that our checkpoint volunteers bring to the party.

  • We'll have our usual big feast at the end of the ride from 1:00 to about 6:00, where people recuperate, hang out, and trade tales of suffering. It's a really nice way to end the day.

  • We will run shuttle from/to the ferries on both the south and north ends of Vashon this year. Select in your registration form (there will be a small extra fee).

  • We have clothing drops at the start and at checkpoints along all the courses. We bring your clothes back to the finish for you.
  • There are toilets at several of the checkpoints and at various locations between checkpoints. These are marked on maps displayed at every checkpoint.

  • Until March 15th Registration fees are $99, or $54 for the Tourist course. On March 16th the fees will go up to $110 for Idiots/Weasels/Weenies and $60 for Tourists. If you wait until August 15th to register the fees will be $120 and $65, respectively. We are going to cut off on-line registration on September 11th at 6 pm. After that registration fees at Jensen Point will be $135 and $75 (Tourist) and your bib number probably won't reflect your place in the age pecking order (#1 is our oldest rider).

  • Your ride fee includes the food & beverages at the checkpoints and the Sandwich Stop, and the Taco Bar & beverages at the finish – and it helps support the Vashon Island Rowing Club, which is the main part of our motivation for putting this on, and three other Vashon organizations, since we are totally dependent on our community for so much.

  • This year the three charities are the Vashon Food Bank, Vashon Youth and Family Services and Journeymen/One Village.

  • Ordering the right amount of food for checkpoints and the Taco Feast keeps us awake at night, so we really appreciate early registrations. Please be one of those folks. Oh, we mentioned that already?
